Spec Mustang Suspension System
The base suspension package (CSS-40-1000SPEC) is designed, manufactured, and distributed by CorteX Racing. This system is derived from the CorteX Xtreme-Grip track suspensions system which has been configured specifically for the Spec Mustang racing series. The following items are included:- Front coil over strut system with large tire fitment geometry, CFS-40-1000SPEC
- Rear coil over stocks with mounting brackets, SHK-40-1000SPEC
- Choice of 600 lb/in front and 450 lb/in rear rate springs or 500 lb/in front and 400 lb/in rear rates springs
- Adjustable watts link system, CWL-40-1000SPEC
- Rear lower control arm system with angle correction brackets and spacers, CLCA-40-1000SPEC
- Adjustable front anti-roll bar end link kit (QTY 1), ARB-40-1002
- Bump steer adjustment kit, CBS-40-1000
Optional items not included in CSS-40-1000SPEC but required for the series are:
- Front 3-position adjustable anti-roll bar, 35mm diameter, either Eibach 35101.310 or Ford Racing M5490A (Front bar only). A rear anti-roll bar is not used on SMG vehicles.
- Steeda X5 drop ball joints, 555-8108
Front Suspension Detailed Description
- CorteX Racing struts housings with Koni racing inserts featuring externally adjustable rebound damping. Strut housings provide additional wheel/tire clearance allowing the use of 18×10.5” wheels. Struts housing are also ambidextrous eliminating the need to carry left and right hand spares. Struts system includes spec springs, bump stops, spring mounting hardware, and caster/camber plates.
- Caster camber plates allowed: Maximum Motorsports Mm5CC-5, or Ground Control CCP197-05-09. Maximum camber allowed is -3.0 degrees.
- Front 3-position adjustable anti-roll bar, 35mm diameter, either Eibach 35101.310 or Ford Racing M5490A (Front bar only). A rear anti-roll bar is not used on SMG vehicles.
- CorteX Racing Adjustable length anti-roll bar end links for corner balance adjustment, ARB-40-1002
- Steeda X5 drop ball joints, 555-8108
- CorteX Racing bump steer adjustment kit, CBS-40-1000
Springs are specified by the series and must be used in specific front/rear combinations. Front springs are 2.5 inch ID with a free length of 7 inches. Rear springs are also 2.5 inch ID but with a free length of 8 inches.

Rear Suspension Detailed Description
- CorteX rear coil over system comprising of Koni single adjustable mono-tube dampers with mounting bracket allowing the use of 18×10.5” wheels, 2.5 inch ID springs, spring mounting hardware, and bump stops.
- Rear lower control arm bracket set that optimizes suspension geometry at lowered rides height.
- Rear tubular, adjustable length lower control arms with spherical joints and angle-correction spacers at both ends.
- CorteX Racing Watts Link System with adjustable roll center. CorteX’s revolutionary differential cover incorporates an adjustable watts pivot mount (4 positions) as well as provision for a differential cooler and temperature sensor (Optional). This system is proven in competition. It is lightweight, extremely durable, and adjustable.
